Josh has a master's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Arizona and a bachelor of arts in biology, minor in contextual arts, from Colorado College.    Josh was born and raised in the Tucson, Arizona area & attended high school in the neighboring town of Oro Valley at Canyon Del Oro High.  While there he spent his summers working as a landscape installer for a local company.  It was during this time that he realized his love for landscape construction and design.  In his sophomore year of high school he was placed into the advanced English, Math, and Science tracts and he excelled.  He graduated with 4 semesters on the honor roll, a seal of excellence in art, and a recognition award in science and engineering.
While at Colorado College and completing the requirements for his major he acted as a research assistant on a Gamble's Oak Seed Production study, studied abroad the art and architecture of Italy and England in Florence and London & was placed into the school’s advanced sculpture and drawing classes.  One of the sculptures he made in this class was awarded a spot on the main street of Manitou Springs for a year.
After graduation he moved back to Tucson and began working as a research assistant and program coordinator for the University of Arizona Center for Native American Health.  While there he conducted and presented medical research, designed the center's logo and promotional material, and acted as program coordinator for the Health Careers Pathways Program.  He worked for the University for four years.
He began his graduate study in his third year of employment.  As a requirement for his graduate degree he published a thesis entitled, "Changes in Riparian Vegetation Following Release of Reclaimed Effluent Water into the Santa Cruz River:  As a Corollary, the Effects of Channelization on Vegetation in the Santa Cruz River".  His thesis has since been selected as an accession by the University of California Water Resources Center Archives, Berkley.
While in graduate school, Josh began to design and install residential landscaping projects and thus began his design career.  After graduation he owned his own landscape design and build business and worked for multiple landscape architectural firms in both the private and public sectors in Tucson and California. He has also worked on multiple award winning landscape design projects including the landscape design for Craycroft Road from River to Sunrise.   His professional experience is very broad and one might say he has done a little bit of everything.  This includes work as the lead landscape architect on a 5 star hotel in Salalah, Oman.  In November of 2015 Josh obtained certification from The Association of Professional Landscape Designers. In early 2017 he obtained a commercial and residential landscape contracting license.
Josh has been designing and installing landscapes in the Tucson area professionally for over 18 years.  He has published articles on the plant life of the Sonoran Desert.
